Big Stax 1100 (Day 2): Mason Triples, Gets Eliminates

Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/500)
Total Entries: 428
Players Remaining: 99
Chip Average: 216,000 (43 big blinds)

Craig Mason
Right in front of "media row" at Table 47, two players were standing up in anticipation of the three-way pre-flop all-in.

Craig Mason was short-stacked and all-in on the button, Nicolas Machalani was also all-in from the small blind, and Joe Borenstein had them both covered from the cutoff seat.

When the cards were flipped up, Mason was pleading for some clubs.

Mason: K♣ Q♣
Machalani: A A♠
Borenstein: J J

Board: K♠ 10♣ 8 / K / 3

Mason made a set of Kings and tripled up. Machalani won the side pot with Borenstein, who still has plenty of chips after starting the day in third place on the leaderboard.

But just a couple hands after Mason tripled up to 215,000, he got tangled up with the wrong player.

Travis Greenawalt entered the day with the chip lead and has nearly doubled up to become the first player to eclipse the 1,000,000 mark!

As Greenawalt recounted, Mason was in the hand with A-Q against a flop of Ace-rag-rag. He checked his ace, allowing Greenawalt to improve his pocket twos to a set on the turn. Greenawalt jammed and Mason called. Just like that, he was gone and Greenawalt has all of the chips.
